Got milk? – and HFCS, and aspartame, and…

The International Dairy Foods Association (IDFA) has recently petitioned the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the agency of the US government responsible for protecting and promoting public health, to allow “any safe and suitable sweetener” in over 17 dairy products WITHOUT it being labeled.

This means that if the proposed rule to amend the standard of identity for milk and 17 additional dairy products is allowed, you may soon be drinking milk laced with added ingredients like high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) and aspartame even outside the US, since the US is the largest cow’s milk producer in the world.
